Past Perfect Continuous Tense Rules, Structure – Examples And Exercise full Solution Oxford Current English Translation.
Explain :
Past Perfect Continuous Tense की क्रिया से यह बोध होता है कि कोई कार्य भूतकाल ( Past ) मे लगातार कुछ समय तक जारी रहा था । जैसे :-
मै दो वर्षो से पढ रहा था । i had been reading for two years.
Note :- इस Tense मे had been के साथ V-ing का रहना आवश्यक है । अतः ( He had been ill – वह बीमार रहा था ) मे Verb Past Perfect Tense मे है । Past Perfect Continuous Tense मे नही । ऐसा Verb का Present Participal रूप ( V-ing ) नही रहने के कारण हुआ है ।
जबकि इस वाक्य के भाव से स्पष्ट है । कि बीमार रहने की स्थिति भूतकाल मे कुछ समय तक लगातार जारी रही । अतः यह कोई आवश्यक नही है कि जो कार्य व्यापार भूतकाल मे कुछ समय तक लगातार जारी रहा हो उसके लिए Past Perfect Continuous Tense की क्रिया का ही प्रयोग किया जाए ।
अनेक परिस्थितियों मे इस तरह के भाव को दिखाने के लिए Past Perfect Tense का प्रयोग किया जाता है, ( प्रायः for/since के साथ ) आप English Sentence के अर्थ/भाव के अनुसार Tense का नामाकरणा न करें, वाक्य मे प्रयुक्त Verb Phrase के ढांचे को देखकर ही नामाकरण करें ।
बहुत से लोग Tense के नामाकरण मे भूल करते हैं । अर्थ/भाव के अनुसार अनुवाद किया जाता है । परंतु अनुवाद कर लेने के बाद Tense का नामकरण English Sentence के Verb phrage के रूप को देखकर ही होंगा । जैसे
प्रधानमंत्री कल आएँगे । मे प्रयुक्त क्रिया भविष्यतकाल मे है । परंतु इसका अनुवाद भाव को देखते हुए होगा । The Prime Minister comes Tomorrow. ( Present Indefinite Tense की क्रिया )
Examples of Affirmative Sentence
मै दौड़ता रहा था । i had been running.
वे लोग सोते रहे थे । They had been sleeping.
मै दो वर्षो से पढ रहा था । i had been reading for two years.
वे लोग सुबह से दौड़ रहे थे । They had been running since morning.
बच्चे सुबह से खेल रहे थे । The children had been playing since morning.
वह 2003 ईo से परीक्षा की तैयारी कर रहा था । He had been preparing for the examination since 2003.
राज दो वर्षो से बुखार से पीड़ित था । Raj had been Suffering from fever for two years.
Had been के बाद V-ing आया है, अतः प्रयुक्त Verb Past Perfect Continuous Tense मे है ।
Examples of Negative Sentences
तुम सुबह से नहीं पढ रहे थे । You had not been reading since morning.
तुम कभी भी पढते नहीं रहे थे । You had never been reading.
क्या आप सुबह से पढ रहे थे ? Had you been reading since morning ?
क्या तुम 2005 ई. से स्कूल नहीं जा रहे थे ? Had you not been going to school since 2005 ?

Past Continuous Tense
मै पढ रहा था । i was reading.
वर्षा हो रही थी । it was raining.
मै लिख रहा था । i was writing.

मै लिखता रहा था । i had been writing.
मै दो घंटो से पढ रहा था । i had been reading for two hours.
दो दिनो से वर्षा हो रही थी । it had been raining for two days.

बच्चे सोमवार से मिठाई की मांग कर रहे थे । The children had been asking for sweets since monday.
मेरी माँ एक घंटे से खाना बना रही थी । My mother had been cooking food for an hour.

वह सुबह से मुझे चिढ़ा रही थी । She had been teasing me since morning.
आपके दोस्त अनेक दिनो से आपके पास नही आ रहे थे ।

It is used to describe an action that started in the past and continued up to another point in the past.

Subject + had been + verb (ing) + object + time reference
