SSB Training Day 3 – Progressive Group Task (PGT)
The Progressive Group Task (PGT) is a crucial part of SSB (Services Selection Board) testing, conducted on the third day. It is designed to test candidates’ teamwork, leadership, problem-solving skills, and physical endurance.
What is Progressive Group Task (PGT)?
- A group obstacle-based task where candidates work together to cross obstacles using given helping materials.
- The task progresses in difficulty level as you move from one obstacle to the next.
- The focus is on group coordination, leadership qualities, and logical thinking.
- It usually lasts for 40-50 minutes.
Rules of PGT (Very Important)
Color Rule
- White Markings → Both candidates and helping materials can touch.
- Blue/Black Markings → Only candidates can touch, not the materials.
- Red Markings → Neither candidates nor helping materials can touch.
Group Rule
- No candidate should move forward alone; the team must work together.
Load Rule
- Any weight or load given by the GTO must be carried forward properly.
Helping Material Rule
- The materials provided (plank, rope, bamboo, etc.) should be used logically and effectively.
Structure of PGT
Level 1 → Easiest obstacle, simple path to cross.
Level 2 → Slightly more difficult, requiring better coordination.
Level 3 → Challenging obstacles, requiring creativity.
Level 4 → Most difficult, testing patience and teamwork under pressure.
