What are Reflexive Pronouns?
Reflexive pronouns are used when the subject and the object of a sentence are the same. They reflect the action back to the subject.
Examples:
- Myself
- Yourself
- Himself
- Herself
- Itself
- Ourselves
- Yourselves
- Themselves
Usage of Reflexive Pronouns:

To indicate the subject and object are the same:
- She taught herself to play the guitar.
- I trust myself to make the right decision.

For emphasis (Emphatic Pronouns):
- I will do it myself.
- They solved the problem themselves.

After certain verbs:
- Enjoy, hurt, help, introduce, apply, etc.
- He hurt himself while playing.
- Please help yourself to some snacks.
Common Mistakes to Avoid:
Incorrect: She looked at hers in the mirror.
Correct: She looked at herself in the mirror.
Incorrect: We enjoyed ours.
Correct: We enjoyed ourselves.
Examples in Sentences:
- I made this cake myself.
- They decorated the house themselves.
- Be careful! You might hurt yourself.
- The cat cleaned itself.
