Part-2: Sentences of Command / Order
Definition:
Command or order sentences are used to instruct, order, or request someone to do something.
These sentences usually begin with the base form of the verb (without “to”).
1. Positive Commands (Do something)
Hindi Sentence | English Sentence |
---|---|
चुप रहो। | Keep quiet. |
दरवाज़ा खोलो। | Open the door. |
जल्दी आओ। | Come quickly. |
ध्यान से सुनो। | Listen carefully. |
अपना काम करो। | Do your work. |
बैठो। | Sit down. |
उठो। | Get up. |
मेरे पीछे आओ। | Follow me. |
2. Negative Commands (Don’t do something)
Hindi Sentence | English Sentence |

शोर मत करो। | Don’t make noise. |
मत भागो। | Don’t run. |
मुझे परेशान मत करो। | Don’t disturb me. |
झूठ मत बोलो। | Don’t lie. |
मत बैठो। | Don’t sit. |
पानी मत गिराओ। | Don’t spill the water. |
इसे मत छुओ। | Don’t touch it. |
3. Polite Commands (Using “Please”)

ज़रा इधर आइए। | Please come here. |
मेरी मदद कीजिए। | Please help me. |
