Adjective: Demonstrative Adjective (Part-7)
What is a Demonstrative Adjective?
A Demonstrative Adjective is used to point out specific persons, places, or things in a sentence. These adjectives always come before a noun and help specify which one or how many.
Types of Demonstrative Adjectives
There are four main demonstrative adjectives in English:
This → (Singular, near) → “यह”
That → (Singular, far) → “वह”
These → (Plural, near) → “ये”
Those → (Plural, far) → “वे”
Examples of Demonstrative Adjectives
This book is very interesting. (यह किताब)
That house is very old. (वह घर)
These apples are fresh. (ये सेब)
Those students are very intelligent. (वे छात्र)
Note:
-
“This” and “These” → किसी पास की चीज़ को दर्शाते हैं।
-
“That” and “Those” → किसी दूर की चीज़ को दर्शाते हैं।
Difference Between Demonstrative Adjective & Pronoun
Demonstrative Adjective | Demonstrative Pronoun |
---|---|
Comes before a noun | Replaces a noun |
Example: This book is mine. | Example: This is my book. |
