 What are Interrogative Pronouns?

Interrogative pronouns are used to ask questions. They help us inquire about people, things, or choices.

 Common interrogative pronouns:

• Who → Refers to a person (subject).
• Whom → Refers to a person (object).
• Whose → Refers to possession.
• What → Refers to things or information.
• Which → Refers to a choice between options.

 Examples of Interrogative Pronouns in Sentences

Who is calling me? (Person – Subject)
Whom did you meet at the party? (Person – Object)
Whose book is this? (Possession)
What is your favorite color? (Thing or information)
Which dress do you like more? (Choice between options)

 Difference Between “Who” and “Whom”

Who → Used as a subject in a sentence.
Whom → Used as an object in a sentence.

Examples:

• Who is coming to the meeting? (Subject)
• Whom did you invite to the meeting? (Object)

Tip: If you can replace it with “he/she”, use “who”. If you can replace it with “him/her”, use “whom”.

 Difference Between “What” and “Which”

What → Used when there are many possibilities.
Which → Used when the options are limited.

Examples:

• What is your favorite hobby? (Any hobby)
• Which do you prefer, tea or coffee? (Limited choice)
