📘 Indefinite Pronouns: Definition

Indefinite pronouns refer to non-specific persons or things. They do not point to any particular noun.

📝 Usage Examples

  • Someone left their umbrella in the hall.

  • Nobody knows the answer to that question.

⚠️ Subject-Verb Agreement

  • Singular Indefinite Pronouns take singular verbs.

    • Example: Everybody is invited to the party.

  • Plural Indefinite Pronouns take plural verbs.

    • Example: Few are aware of the changes.

  • Some Indefinite Pronouns can be singular or plural, depending on the context.

    • Example:

      • Some of the cake is left. (cake is uncountable)

      • Some of the cookies are missing. (cookies are countable)
