What is a Proper Noun? | Proper Noun क्या होता है?

Definition:

A Proper Noun is the specific name of a person, place, or thing.
Proper Nouns always begin with a capital letter.

Proper Noun वह संज्ञा होती है जो किसी व्यक्ति, स्थान, वस्तु या संस्था के विशेष नाम को दर्शाती है।
जैसे: Ravi, India, Taj Mahal, Monday


Examples of Proper Nouns:

Common Noun Proper Noun
boy Amit, Rahul
country India, Japan
monument Taj Mahal, Qutub Minar
city Delhi, Mumbai
day Monday, Friday
river Ganga, Nile
month January, March

Always Capitalize the first letter of a proper noun.


Proper Noun Sentences – Hindi to English

1. राम स्कूल जा रहा है।

Ram is going to school.
(“Ram” is a proper noun.)


2. भारत एक महान देश है।

India is a great country.
(“India” is a proper noun.)


3. मैं हर सोमवार को योग करता हूँ।

I do yoga every Monday.
(“Monday” is a proper noun.)


4. ताजमहल आगरा में है।

The Taj Mahal is in Agra.
(“Taj Mahal” and “Agra” are proper nouns.)


5. सचिन तेंदुलकर क्रिकेट खेलते हैं।

Sachin Tendulkar plays cricket.
(“Sachin Tendulkar” is a proper noun.)


Remember This:

Every Proper Noun is a Noun, but not every Noun is a Proper Noun.
हर Proper Noun, Noun होता है, लेकिन हर Noun, Proper Noun नहीं होता।
