Assertive sentence को interrogative sentence मे बदलने के लिए  Subject  के पहले कोई उपयुक्त एक Anomalous finite रखना पड़ता है । निम्नलिखित को Anomalous finite कहते हैं ।

Am, is, are, was, were, have, has, had, do, does, did, shall, should, will, would, can, could, may, might, must, ought, need, dare, used.

यदि interrogative sentence मे not का प्रयोग करना हो, तो इसके लिए दो उपाय हैं ।

1. Subject के बाद not का प्रयोग करें ।

2. Subject के पहले Anomalous finite के साथ not का प्रयोग करें, परंतु इस स्थिति मे not के लघु रूप का प्रयोग होगा । जैसे

Do i not eat ?      Don’t i eat ?
Will they not go ?    Won’t they go ?
Am i not reading ?   Aren’t i reading ?
Are you not going ?     Aren’t you going ?

निम्नलिखित Anomalous finite + not संक्षिप्त रूप को याद रखें, Question tags मे भी संक्षिप्त रूप का प्रयोग होता है ।

यदि प्रश्नसूचक शब्द वाक्य का कर्ता रहे या वाक्य के कर्ता का विशेषण, तो ऐसे वाक्यों का अंग्रेजी अनुवाद इस प्रकार होगा

Interrogative word + ( Noun ) + Verb + ……?

ध्यान देंं कि वाक्य का ढाँचा Assertive sentence के ढाँचे जैसा ही रहता है, यानि Affirmative verb का ही प्रयोग होता है । जैसे

कौन पढता है ?   Who reads ?
क्या हुआ ?    What happened ?
कौन खा रहा है ?    Who is eating ?
किसने इसे किया है ?    Who has done this ?
कौन मेरी मदद करेगा ?     Who will help me ?
कौन लड़का आया है ?    Which boy has come ?
किसकी पुस्तकें नई है ?    Whose books are new ?
किस लड़के ने तुम्हें पीटा है ?    Which boy beat you ?
कौन आदमी मेरी मदद करेगा ?    Which man will help me ?
किसने इस पुस्तक को लिखा ?    Who wrote this book ?
किसका नाम पहले आएगा ?    Whose name will come first ?

उपर्युक्त वाक्यों मे कौन, किसने, क्या, कौन लड़का, किस लड़के, कौन आदमी, किसका नाम तथा किसकी पुस्तकें का प्रयोग वाक्य मे कर्ता की भाँति हुआ है ।  अतः अनुवाद मे इसके बाद क्रिया ( verb ) का प्रयोग हुआ है । और आप देख रहे हैं कि ऊपर के English sentence interrogative है, लेकिन Verbs Affirmative है ।

ध्यान दें ।

किसने, कौन – Who
किस/कौन + संज्ञा – Which + noun
किसका/किसकी/किनका/किनकी/किनके + संज्ञा = Whose + noun

यदि किसी सरल वाक्य ( simple sentence ) मे प्रश्नसूचक शब्द प्रयुक्त रहे, जो न तो वाक्य का कर्ता हो, न ही कर्ता का विशेषण, तो अंग्रेजी अनुवाद बनाते समय interrogative verb का प्रयोग करना पड़ेगा, जैसा कि इन उदाहरणों से स्पष्ट है ।

किस लड़के को तुमने पसंद किया ?   Which boy did you like ? ( यहाँ you वाक्य का subject है )

परंतु

किस लड़के ने तुम्हें पसंद किया ?   Which boy liked you ? ( यहाँ which boy वाक्य का subject है )

यह क्या है ?   What is this ?
वे कौन हैं ?    Who are they ?
ये किसके हैं ?    Whose are these ?
किसका काम तुम पसंद करती हो ?   Whose work do you like ?

कितना/कितनी/कितने + संज्ञा का अनुवाद How much / How many + Noun होता है ।

Much का प्रयोग uncountable noun के साथ होता है और Many का प्रयोग Plural countable noun के साथ होता है ।
