The Story of the King and the Stone

Once upon a time, in a prosperous kingdom, there lived a wise king. To test the character of his people, he had a large boulder placed in the middle of a busy road. Then, he hid nearby to see what would happen.
Throughout the day, people came and went:
- Some cursed the king for not keeping the roads clear.
- Some blamed others — “Why doesn’t someone remove it?”
- Merchants simply took another path, ignoring it.
Then, as the sun was about to set, a poor farmer carrying vegetables approached. He saw the boulder and said to himself:
“It’s blocking the way for everyone. I’ll try to move it.”
He set down his load and struggled with the boulder. It took all his strength, but he eventually managed to push it to the side of the road.
As he returned to gather his vegetables, he noticed a small pouch lying where the boulder had been.
He opened it, and to his amazement, found it filled with gold coins and a note from the king:
“This reward is for the one who took the time and effort to remove the obstacle. You have proved yourself a true citizen of this kingdom.”
Moral of the Story:
We often complain about problems, waiting for someone else to fix them. But the truth is:
Every obstacle is an opportunity in disguise.
Those who take initiative, even quietly, are the ones who make a difference — and are rewarded in unexpected ways.
