The Story of Two Friends – A Lesson on True Friendship
Once upon a time…
Two best friends, Rahul and Amit, were traveling through a desert. During their journey, they had an argument. In anger, Rahul slapped Amit on his face.
Amit felt hurt, but without saying anything, he wrote in the sand:
“Today, my best friend slapped me.”
They continued their journey until they found an oasis (a place with water in the desert). They decided to take a bath there. Suddenly, Amit got stuck in the quicksand and started sinking. He panicked and called for help.
Without thinking twice, Rahul rushed and saved Amit’s life.
After recovering, Amit carved on a stone:
“Today, my best friend saved my life.”
Rahul was surprised and asked,
“Why did you write on sand when I hurt you, but on stone when I helped you?”
Amit smiled and said,
“When someone hurts us, we should write it in sand so the wind can erase it. But when someone does something good for us, we should engrave it on stone so that it stays forever.”
Moral of the Story
Forget small fights and forgive easily.
Never hold grudges against your friends.
Cherish and remember the good things they do for you.
True friendship is about understanding, helping, and staying together in tough times.
Friendship is not about who is always right, but about who stays with you even when things go wrong.

Here’s an inspiring short story about true friendship — one that teaches the value of standing by your friends in tough times.
The Story of Two Best Friends – “Sand and Stone”
Two best friends were walking through a desert. During the journey, they had an argument — and one friend slapped the other in anger.
The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, he wrote on the sand:
“Today my best friend slapped me in the face.”
They kept walking and eventually found an oasis. They decided to take a bath. Suddenly, the friend who had been slapped started drowning, but the other friend saved his life.
After he recovered, he took a stone and carved into it:
“Today my best friend saved my life.”
The other friend asked:
“Why did you write it on sand when I hurt you, but carved it on stone when I helped you?”
The wise friend replied:
“When someone hurts us, we should write it in sand — so the winds of forgiveness can erase it.
But when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone — so it is never forgotten.”
Moral of the Story:
True friendship is about:
- Forgiveness
- Gratitude
- And remembering the good over the bad
“A good friend is not the one who stands by you when you’re happy,
but the one who holds your hand when you’re falling apart.”
