Jalna (Maharshtra): Ansar Shaikh, one among the 34 Muslims out of the total 1,078 candidates recommended by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) based on the 2015 Civil Service Examination for different government posts, is son of an auto-rickshaw driver.

Even more intriguing is that his mother works in fields and the family lives in a rented home at Shelgaon in Jalna - a dictrict place in Maharashtra's Marathwada region.

"When we visited the family after receiving the news about Ansar Shaikh's fabulous success, we found that the house didn't even had a lamp", Majid Shaikh, a Corporator at local civic body, said while talking to ummid.com on phone.

"Ansar's younger brother rushed for a CFL lamp even as his parents were crying out of emotion and joy", he added.

Ansar Shaikh, first to crack the all-important exam from Jalna, is yet to reach his home town and is away in Pune.

"Ansar studied at Pune's Unique Academy and he is still there. He will be in Jalna by tomorrow morning", Majid said.

Ansar, who ranked 361 in Civil Services, completed his early education at Marathi medium Zillah Parishad school before graduating in Political Science from Fergusson College, Pune. Before that he did HSC from Barwal College in Arts stream and got 100 out of 100 marks in Sanskrit.

It is learnt that Ansar used to remain without food for 2-3 days as his financial condition was very poor.

"Inspired by his teacher who was MPSC, Ansar set his goal to become IAS officer when he was in 10th", said his younger brother, who had left school in std VIIth and started working in a grossery shop to support Ansar's expenses.

Besides Ansar, a total of 34 Muslims have also made it to the list of successful candidates. They will now be posted on different Civil Services posts based on their ranks.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced the results of the 2015 Civil Services Examination Tuesday afternoon. Delhi Tina Dabi topped the list whereas Athar Aamir Ul Shafi Khan of Jammua & Kashmir secured the second position.

Artika Shukla and Shashank Tripathi secured the fourth and fifth positions respectively in the examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

This year's results has probably sent youngest Civil Sevants as Tina, Ather and Ansar are all just 22 years of age when they cracked the civil services exam.

"In fact, Ansar was 21 years and 08 days old when he faced the personal interview", his brother said.

Meanwhile, Jalna erupted in joy when news broke that the local boy had cracked the UPSC IAS exam. There are celebrations all around the city and preparations are on to greet Ansar when he reaches Jalna tomorrow.

"We are planning a gala ceremony to greet and welcome Ansar when he will be here tomorrow", Majid Shaikh said.

Ansar Shaikh, an IAS officer from Jalna village in Maharashtra, has become the youngest IAS officer in India. Ansar, son of an auto driver, Anas Shaikh had a tough time growing up but despite all odds, he cleared the UPSC exam with flying colors.

During his childhood days, Ansar Shaikh’s family asked him to drop out of school due to their poor financial condition. Once his father even reached his school to get Ansar out of school. But, there his teacher convinced his father not to do so. He explained to his father that Ansar was good at studies and should get a chance to study further. However, due to financial issues, his brother dropped out in 7th standard and started working in a garage. Ansar had then secured 91 per cent marks in the 12th board examination.

Ansar Shaikh later graduated in Political Science from Fergusson College, Pune. He secured 73 per cent marks during graduation. To make ends meet, he worked almost 12 hours every day for three consecutive years while preparing for the UPSC exam.

After his college he joined coaching for UPSC preparation for one year. Considering his financial condition, the coaching academy had waived off a part of his fees.
