Satyendra Nath Bose
Born – 1 January 1894
Died-4 February 1974
Special point: Bose Einstein statistics have special importance in higher physics and mathematics. Bose made important discoveries in nuclear physics. The particles used in statistics after him were named Basson.
Kolkata-born Satyendranath’s father Surendranath Bose was an officer in Railways. Satyendra was intelligent from the beginning and his goal was always to top the class. In Mathematics, he solved the questions in more than one way and got 100 out of 100 marks. In 1915, he got the first place in the University of Kolkata and in the same year translated Einstein’s original theory of relativity written in German into English. M.Sc. from Dhaka University After that he became a professor of physics there.
Bose took leave from the position of Reader and went to Paris for some time and worked there under Madame Curie. After working with Currie and Luis the Broglie, he went to Berlin, where Einstein received him with emotion. There he came in contact with well-known scientists such as Planck, Schrödinger, Polly, Haagenburg. For the professorship, when the management of Dhaka University approached him with D. Sc. Einstein wrote that his countrymen do not believe that your work is D.C. Is higher than.
___ Bose, who considered Einstein to be his mentor for a lifetime, returned to the University of Dhaka to become a professor. After leaving Dhaka in 1946, he became a professor in the Science Club at the University of Kolkata and after his retirement in 1956 became the Vice-Chancellor of Visva-Bharati. His 24 papers on various aspects of physics were printed and discussed. The particles used in statistics are named bosons. He had a keen interest in the propagation of science in India and in pursuing brilliant scientists. Many of his disciples earned considerable name in the field of science in India and abroad. In 1958, he was made a Fellow of the Royal Society, London, and the Government of India awarded the Padma Vibhushan the National Professor. Even in old age, he visited various scientific institutions of the country and guided the young scientists. He died in Kolkata at the age of 80 __.
