Some Special Type of Sentences-1

1. मै टहला करता था ।
2. मै वहाँ जाया करता था ।
3. वह धूम्रपान किया करती थी ।
4. वह उपन्यास पढा करती थी ।
5. मै रोज मंदिर जाया करता था ।
6. वह उनलोगो को ठगा करता था ।

Note : उपर्युक्त वाक्यो के भाव से यह पता चलता है कि कर्ता को कोई खास काम करने की आदत थी । वे ऐसा हमेशा या प्रायः या बार बार भूतकाल मे करते थे । ऐसे वाक्यो का अनुवाद नीचे दिए गए Structure के अनुसार होता है ।

Structure of Some Special Type of Sentences-1

Subject + used to + extra words

1. i used to walk.
2. i used to go there.
3. She used to smoke.
4. She used to read novels.
5. i used to go to temple everyday.
6. He used to cheat them.

Note : Negative Sentences के लिए used not to या फिर usedn’t to का प्रयोग करें । साथ ही interrogative sentences बनाने के लिए used को Subject के पहले रखें ।

Book Solved Examples

मै टहला नही करता था ।
i usedn’t to walk.
i used not to walk.
i didn’t use to walk.

Note : तीसरे प्रकार से किया गया अनुवाद प्रायः बोलचाल की भाषा मे प्रयुक्त होता है जो informal तथा colloquial है ।

सीता गाना नही गाया करती थी ।
Sita used not to sing.
क्या राम पढाया करता था ?
Used Ram to teach ?
Did Ram use to teach ?
वह तुम्हे क्यो पीटता था / पीटा करता था ?
Why used he to beat you ?
तुम वहाँ क्यो जाया करते थे ?
Why used you to go there ?
Why did you use to go there ?
क्या आप सुबह मे नही टहला करते थे ?
Used you not to walk in the morning ?
Usedn’t you to walk in the morning ?
Didn’t you use to walk in the morning ?

Note : अगर वाक्य के भाव से स्पष्ट हो कि कोई काम करने की आदत या कोई स्थिति past मे स्थायी रूप से बनी रही । तो ऐसे वाक्यो का अनुवाद Past indefinite tense या used to के प्रयोग से करना चाहिए । जैसे

उस जंगल मे एक बाघ रहा करता था ।
There lived a tiger in that forest. OR
There used to live a tiger in that forest.
उस विधायक मे शिक्षक बालको को पीटा करते थे ।
The teachers used to beat the students in that school.
The teachers beat the students in that school.

Note : ” मै जाता हूँँ या मै जाया करता हूँँ । ” दोनो का अनुवाद ” i go “ ही होगा । i used to go नही होगा । वर्तमान मे आदत दिखाने के लिए Present indefinite tense की क्रिया ही काफी है । इस प्रकार के वाक्यो मे use to / uses to का प्रयोग गलत होगा । मै जाता हूँँ का अर्थ ही होता है मै जाया करता हूँँ । past time मे आदत दिखाने के लिए used to का प्रयोग आवश्यक होता है ।

मै वहाँ जाया करता था ।      i used to go there.
तुम अपने भाई को पीटा करते थे ।      you used to beat your brother.
मै श्याम को नही पीटा करता था ।      i usedn’t to beat shyam.
वह मेरे यहाँ आया करता था । He used to come to me.
आप सुबह मे टहला करते थे ।       you used to walk in the morning.
वह धूम्रपान किया करता था ।      He used to smoke.
क्या वह धूम्रपान किया करता था ?      Used he to smoke ?
वह तुम्हारे पास क्यो आया करता था ?     Why used he to come to you ?
वह नही आया करता था ।      He usedn’t to come.

वह मुझे पढाया करता था ।      He used to teach me.
वह मुझे पीटा करता था ।      He used to beat me.
सीता गाना गाया करती थी ।      Sita used to sing a song.
वे नही टहला करते थे ।      They usedn’t to walk.
तुम धूम्रपान नही किया करते थे ।      you usedn’t to smoke.
वह कहानियाँ लिखा करता था ।      He used to write stories.
क्या आप अपने भाई को पढाया करते थे ?     Used you to teach your brother ?
क्या वह मंदिर नही जाया करता था ?     Usedn’t he to go to a temple ?

क्या तुम अपनी पत्नी को नही पीटा करते थे ?     Usedn’t you to beat your wife ?
सीता कहाँ रहा करती थी ?     Where used sita to live ?
तुम कैसे अपने दिन बिताया करते थे ?     How used you to spend your day ?
वह अपनी पत्नी की बाते नही सुना करता था ।     He usedn’t to listen his wife’s words.
वह उसे पीटा करता था ।      He used to beat him.
वह पैसा बर्बाद किया करता था ।     He used to waste money.
वह हमेशा इधर उधर भटकता रहता था ।      He always used to wander here and there.
वह ऐसा क्यों किया करता था ? Why used he to do so ?
तुम पढा करते हो । you read.
मै रोज स्कूल जाया करता हूँ । i go to school daily.
सीता कब आया करती है ? When does sita come ?

Note : वर्तमान मे आदत दिखाने के लिए used to का प्रयोग नहीं किया जाता है । वर्तमान मे आदत दिखाने के लिए present indefinite tense का प्रयोग किया जाता है ।

1. वह हँसने लगी ।
2. रामू रोने लगा ।
3. गीता काम करने लगी ।
4. वह गाली देने लगा ।
5. रामू हाँफने लगा ।
6. वे लोग दौड़ने लगे ।

Note : ऐसे वाक्यो के भाव से स्पष्ट है कि अमुक काम किसी घटना के उपरांत शुरू हुआ । ऐसे वाक्यो का अनुवाद नीचे दिए गए Structure के अनुसार होता है ।

Structure of Some Special Type of Sentence 2

Subject + began + infinitive

infinitive का अर्थ to + v1

1. She began to laugh.
2. Ramu began to weep.
3. Geeta began to work.
4. He began to abuse.
5. Ramu began to pant.
6. They began to run.

Example Special Types of Negative & Interrogative Sentence.

Subject + did not + begin + infinitive.

did + Subject + begin + infinitive.

did + Subject + not + begin + infinitive.

W.h + did + Subject + begin + infinitive.

वह नही रोने लगी ।     She did not begin to weep.
क्या वे लोग गाँँव मे रहने लगे ?      Did they begin to live in the village ?
क्या वह नही रोने लगी ?     Did she not begin to weep ?
वे लोग क्यो भागने लगे ?     Why did they begin to flee away ?
वह तुम्हे क्यो मारने लगा ?      Why did he begin to beat you ?

Note : यहाँ ध्यान देनेवाली बात यह है कि वाक्य के भाव से स्पष्ट रहता है । कि अभीष्ट काम किसी घटना के उपरांत शुरू हो गया । इसलिए ऐसे वाक्यो का अनुवाद to begin verb से बनता है । to begin का अर्थ है शुरू होना । वह रोने लगी, इसका अर्थ है उसने रोना शुरू कर दिया । इसी प्रकार वाक्य के भाव से यह लगे कि कार्य व्यापार वर्तमान मे शुरू होता है तो वहाँ भी to begin verb के द्वारा ही अनुवाद किया जाएगा । जैसे

Subject + begin/begins + infinitive.

Subject + do/does not + begin + infinitive.

Do/does + Subject + not + begin + infinitive.

W.h + Do/does + Subject + begin + infinitive.

वह पढने लगता है ।      He begins to read.
सीता गाने लगती है ।      Sita begins to sing.
तुम रोने लगते हो ।      you begin to weep.
वर्षा होने लगती है ।      it begins to rain.
मै संदेह करने लगता हूँँ ।      i begin to doubt.
वह मारने लखता है ।      He begins to beat.
वह नही रोने लगता है ।      He does not begin to weep.
क्या आप संदेह करने लगते हैं ?     Do you begin to doubt.
क्या वह नही गाने लगती है ?      Does she not begin to sing ?
आप क्यो संदेह करने लगते हैं ?      Why do you begin to doubt.
तुम क्या सोचने लगते हो ?     What do you begin to think ?
वह रोने लगेगा । He will begin to weep.

वह नहीं पढने लगता है । He does not begin to read.
क्या वह गाने लगती है ? Does She begin to sing ?
आप क्या सोचने लगते हैं ? What do you begin to think ?
वे लोग कहाँ रहने लगे ? Where did they begin to live ?
क्यों सीता नहीं रोने लगी ? Why did sita not begin to weep ?

तुमलोग क्या करने लगे ? What did you begin to do ?
वह नहीं रोने लगी । She did not begin to weep.
वे क्यों झोपड़ियों मे रहने लगे ? Why did they begin to live the cottage ?
क्या वह नहीं जाने लगा ? Did he not begin to leave ?
सीता क्यों पछताने लगी ? Why did Sita begin to repent ?
क्या बच्चे पढने लगते हैं ? Do the children begin to read ?
गीता क्यों काम करने लगती है ? Why does Geeta begin to work ?
तुम क्या सोचने लगे ? What did you begin to think ?
तुम्हारे पति क्यों संदेह करने लगते हैं ? Why does your husband begin to doubt ?
वह कैसे पछताने लगी ? How did She begin to repent ?
